Clearing the way and installing new utility lines
Valley View Drive, Paradise
Before power could be completely restored to Ridge communities, burned and diseased trees needed to be removed. Ponderosa pines can reach heights of upwards of 200 feet. Removing thousands of them that could impact power lines was a lengthy process. The care and amount of time required to remove the towering pines was compounded by working in an urban environment where the trees had to be removed piece by piece, instead of simply felling them in a forest.
Power lines were not the only utility lines impacted. The lower levels on utility poles are typically used by phone and cable companies. Miles and miles of cable and telephone lines needed to be replaced.
