From the late 1970s to the mid 1980s Oakland, California photographer Douglas Keister documented the sculptures at the the Emeryville Mudflats. All of Keister’s photographs were taken at night using a Linhof Technika 4X5 camera, color gels, flashbulbs, hot lights and strobes. The culmination of his work was the publication of the book Driftwood Whimsy: The Sculptures of the Emeryville Mudflats in 1985.
