This plain steel window with its flaring reveal is embellished with a heavily rusticated pair of shutters and a stout wooden lintel.  Steel windows, an innovation of the Twenties, proved fairly popular in residential architecture before their propensity to rust became evident.   They returned to residential work for a brief encore during the Modernist era before aluminum windows superceded them.
