The glowing interior of San Xavier del Bac vividly illustrates the splendor that can be obtained with the simplest materials. While the initial impression is one of Baroque magnificence, a closer look reveals that the refined ornament and marble finishes evoking that period are in fact quite coarsely executed with ordinary stucco and paint.
