Delicate tendrils of wrought iron support the balcony of this Burbank home dating from the early Thirties. Other features of note include a two-stage Mission-inspired tower with chamfered corners, projecting hoods above both the living room window and entrance door, and a projecting upper floor carried on triple vaults. The pierced openings on the lower and upper stages of the tower unwittingly hint at a common theme in Streamline Moderne designs yet to come. As this example will confirm, strong colors have exceptional power in Spanish Revival architecture, since they are usually contrasted against large expanses of stark white. Here, a small touch of primary blue fairly leaps out at the passerby.
