READY FOR CHURCH. Neatly dressed, clutching a hymnal or Bible, this woman appears to be ready to head to church. She may have had a long walk to church as the address 1048 is visible on the wall under the shadow of the porch roof. Probably she lived at 1048 North Seventeenth Street, two miles or more from Mount Zion Baptist, Newman Methodist Episcopal, and Quinn Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Churches. Henry and Anna Coleman lived at that address in 1915, and Henry and Sophia Anderson were listed in 1920.
