The Poble Espanyol or Spanish Town, built in 1929 for Barcelona’s International Exhibition, was intended to represent the range of architecture found in Spain’s various regions. The complex, which contains 116 buildings and covers some five acres, was refurbished in the late 1980s. The streets radiating from the Main Square seen here house traditional Spanish artisans as well as shops and cafes.
