Santa Barbara provides a benchmark for modern-day Spanish Revival design with the Circon Building, a 76,000-square-foot office and manufacturing facility located beside the historic El Camino Real. Designed by architect Bill Mahan and landscaped by Robert Cunningham, the building features unassailably authentic Spanish Revival massing, detailing, and finishes, and can easily be mistaken for a structure dating from the late 1920s. In fact, it was commissioned by Circon Corporation “to demonstrate (its) commitment to quality, attention to detail...and style,” and was completed in 1995.
