EVA O'DONNELL. This lady in a lace shawl was identified by Pamona Banks James as Eva O'Donnell, daughter of James and Susan O'Donnell. The setting was likely in the house depicted in image LB178. Eva was in a circle of card-playing friends that included Pamona's mother Ritha Banks and Will Patrick of Hastings, Nebraska. The Patricks were a well-known family of African American homesteaders in central Nebraska. The cardplayers circulated among their homes for games of canasta.<br />
