A tiled sundial of obvious European origin counts the daylight hours at Scotty’s Castle; a handsome lantern of patinated iron hangs beneath it.  While American architects of the Twenties frequently maintained comprehensive libraries of European details and took pride in reproducing them accurately, only an architect thoroughly versed in European craft techniques could produce details of this caliber.
