An unusually spacious patio, partly paved in clay tile and partly planted with grass, provides the literal focal point of the Roper residence. The pairs of doors at left center lead into the gallery. The wall visible at right parallels the property line, yet its barrel-tiled cap and false pediment cleverly suggest additional structures beyond. The vivid blue trim color was a favorite for Spanish Revival homes of the era.
