Pasadena's Hotel Green (now known as the Castle Green Apartments) was designed by Frederick L. Roehrig and built in 1899 as an annex to the original hotel dating from 1890, which stood across the street. The building’s rambling, twin-towered facade ranks among the relatively few large-scale buildings designed in a Spanish/Moorish style. The curious pavilion at foreground is the sole remainder of an elegant bridge that once connected the annex to the original building. The bridge was removed when the earlier hotel was demolished in 1924.
