A simple design of square panels and a small peephole adorn the door to one of the Patio del Moro’s seven apartments. The courtyard’s meandering brick paving is laid in a basketweave pattern that continues clear through the arch of the entrance passage beyond and out to the sidewalk edge. The outdoor fireplace is located along the wall just beyond the door; the chimney breast can be glimpsed to the left of the balcony rail. In this tranquil setting, it is difficult to imagine that the noise and tumult of a busy Los Angeles boulevard lie but a few steps beyond the arched passageway.
