A kaleidoscope of painted ceramic tile adorns the risers of this staircase at El Cabrillo, one of a symmetrical pair which lead from upper-floor apartments down to a pair of small patios flanking the building’s main entrance path. The treads are once again of plain bullnosed clay tile; the stair’s simple wrought iron railing terminates in a graceful volute. The opening at left is the door to a lower floor apartment; its simple surround is among the few elements on the building’s exterior finished in stucco.
